Why is this? Because of the composition of terpenes within the plant. Think of it this way: pure thc gives a very uplifting, energetic high, but many indicas have higher level of thc than sativa's, yet produce a stoned effect. In reality the compositions of terpenes In any given strain And their interplay with cannibanoids is what gives a particular effect, not the geographical location of parent strains (which is in essence the difference between sativa and indica). Plenty of sativa's show "indica" effects and vice versa. While the distinction can be useful to show lineage and growth patterns etc it is not a valid way of splitting effects. Personally I don't think a simple split of sativa = head high, energetic etc and indica = stoned couch lock is a realistic view. Is there REALLY much of a difference between strains? Open to anyone’s experiences. I’ve looked at a few different strains that local medical dispensaries have available (AJ Sour Diesel, Jack Herer, Strawberry Cough) and I’m wondering if these or other sativas would be better matches for me. I want to be able to continue using cannabis, but I want to get up the next morning and have very few effects left over. My question is: Will trying a sativa strain really make that much of a difference for me? I’d love more energy and creativity whilst intoxicated, but I would really like to avoid the sluggish feelings the next day or two. Sitting back and getting couch-locked and watching some of my favorite movies can be great, but I’m looking for different cannabis experiences. Being a rookie, I just went with the highest THC content so I could get the best value for my money. I’ve read that this might be due to the strains I’ve been using, primarily indicas. I sleep late, and I’m not nearly as productive as I want to be. My only problem is that whenever I eat some (estimated dose is between 15 and 60mg), I get EXTREMELY lethargic the next day. I rarely smoke it, my primary ingestion method is infusing the flower into fat (coconut oil) and then eating it. I didn’t really drink all that much anyway, but I don’t plan to drink anymore at all, and I credit cannabis for this. It has also replaced alcohol entirely as a social intoxicant. ![]() It helps me relieve pain, manage stress, and experience things in an alternate light. ![]() ![]() I am a relatively recent user of cannabis (couple years on and off), and I am enjoying the effects it brings.
